About Coach Geis
Coach Geis married wife Janie in 2005 and together they have two kids, Jesse and Kendall.
He graduated from Hoover High School and earned his Master Degree in Administration from Kent State University. Coach Geis currently teaches Business and Marketing at GHS.
His Father, Gary Geis, was a much loved and well respected administrator at Green from 1991 to 2008. We are fortunate to have the next generation, Coach Geis, as a leader who is currently transforming the landscape of GHS Football.
GHS Football Accomplishments under the direction of Coach Geis
● Prior to Arriving in 2019, Green had not qualified for the playoffs since 2004
● We have earned a trip to the OHSAA Playoffs 6 years in a row.
● 2021 Regional Champions in Division 2, Region 7
● Beat Massillon 26-25 in Regional Finals
● 2021 Final 4
● 2023 Regional Runners Up, Division 2, Region 7
● 2023 Elite 8
● We have achieved ten win seasons twice, 2021 (11-4) and 2023 (10-4). That has only
been done in 1968, 1975, 1993, and 2001. No other head coach has done it twice.
Prior to coaching at Green Coach Geis led Rootstown to an undefeated season and the Elite 8. In 2017 Coach Geis was named Portage Trail Conference Coach of the Year, Akron Touchdown Club Coah of the Year, and the Division 6 NE Inland Distrcit Coach of the Year. In 2018 he was named All Star Preps Coach of the Year and was the Assistant Coach for the North/South All Star Game.
